Day 1

Today we travel via coach from Hobart to Launceston. We will have a stop for a light morning tea at Campbell Town on the way. We check in for our 3:50pm flight with Sharp Airlines to take us to Flinders Island! Upon arrival, our expert local guide who will accompany us throughout our touring, will be there to meet us and take us to our accommodation for our stay on Flinders island, Furneaux Tavern. Dinner tonight is on site.

Day 2

Early risers may enjoy a sunrise walk along the Lady Barron Foreshore Track, otherwise we start our day with breakfast on site. After breakfast, we explore the island’s north-western corner. We stop at Castlerock overlooking Marshall Bay - a stunning photo opportunity with red lichen against white sands. We continue to the mouth of the North East River for morning tea. At Palana, we view WWII coastal surveillance bunkers. Enjoy a picnic lunch at Killiecrankie Bay, famous for its Killiecrankie Diamonds. This afternoon, we visit Wybalenna Aborigial Historic Site, and reflect on its significant history. On our journey back to our accommodation, we have one more photo opportunity at Lillies Beach. Dinner tonight is on site at Furneaux Tavern.

Day 3

After breakfast, we travel into Strzelecki National Park to enjoy morning tea at Trousers Point and explore Fotheringate Bay, known for dramatic granite formations and views to Mt Strzelecki. At 11:00am we have the opportunity to attend the local ANZAC Day service and commemorate. After the ANZAC Day service, we travel to the local golf club for lunch, with views overlooking the golf course and Bass Strait. This afternoon, enjoy a wine tasting at Unavale Vineyard before following part of the Furneaux Geology Trail and Coast Rd to return to the Furneaux Tavern.

Day 4

After breakfast, we visit Cameron Inlet, a vital habitat for migratory and resident shorebirds. Morning tea today, is shared with Kate Mooney, Flinders Island’s beloved Wombat Lady, who recounts her years caring for orphaned wombats. We then visit the Furneaux Museum, and enjoy lunch at the Interstate Hotel in Whitemark, with some time to explore the area. This afternoon, enjoy a farm and garden visit with afternoon tea at Avondale. Our farewell dinner tonight, is at an unknown location at this stage.

Day 5

After breakfast and checkout, we travel to Walkers Lookout for a final panoramic view before continuing to the airport for our private charter flight to King Island. We enjoy a tasty packed lunch while we wait for boarding and say farewell to our local guide. Upon arrival at King Island Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your local guide. Your central island tour begins in the township of Currie, where you will visit the Cultural Centre, Kelp Industries, Currie Lighthouse and the Museum, offering a fascinating insight into King Island’s rich history and heritage. Along the way, take in the island’s stunning natural beauty and discover its unique flora and fauna. After your tour, you will be transferred to your accommodation to relax and unwind before dinner. Your gourmet trail begins this evening with a delicious 2-course meal, accompanied by breathtaking views across the ocean.

Day 6

After breakfast, we begin with an exhilarating journey along King Island’s rugged and spectacular southwest coast. You will visit the site of Australia’s worst peacetime maritime disaster before continuing across the dunes of the Bowling property, home to a 7th-generation farming family. Enjoy morning tea in a truly spectacular setting before continuing towards the beautiful Surprise Bay. Along the way, savour a gourmet lunch showcasing the finest local King Island produce. Your journey continues with a visit to the unique 7,000 year old calcified forest, followed by breathtaking coastal views from Seal Rocks. This evening, you will dine at one of King Island’s local restaurants, continuing your gourmet trail with another memorable taste of the island.

Day 7

After breakfast, you journey to the northern reaches of King Island, discovering some of the island’s most fascinating natural, cultural and culinary highlights. Your first stop is Reekara, where you will enjoy morning tea and explore local arts and traditional kelp crafts. You then continue to Quarantine Bay, where you will discover the intriguing story behind how King Island got its name. From there, you travel onwards to Egg Lagoon and Martha Lavinia before visiting Penny’s Lagoon, a remarkable natural phenomenon featuring a suspended lake - one of only three known examples in the world! Your journey continues to the iconic Cape Wickham Lighthouse, the tallest lighthouse in the Southern Hemisphere, followed by a relaxing picnic lunch. In the afternoon, indulge in a tasting of award-winning cheeses at King Island Dairy. This evening, enjoy a special degustation dinner at Australia’s award-winning Wild Harvest Restaurant. The day concludes with an unforgettable nocturnal penguin experience.

Day 8

After an early breakfast and checkout, you will transfer to the airport for your flight back to Launceston. Along the way, have a quick visit to the picturesque village of Naracoopa, and the breathtaking Sea Elephant Bay and Blowhole (subject to tides). Upon arrival in Launceston you will travel by coach back to Hobart with a stop at Campbell Town on the way for lunch (at own cost). You arrive home after a week exploring the best that King and Flinders Islands have to offer!

• DAY TOURS: To secure your seat, full payment is required immediately. If you are unable to attend a day tour, we require 48 hours’ notice and we can provide you with a credit to use on another day tour. Day Tour payments are non-refundable.

• MULTI-DAY TOURS: To secure your seat, a deposit is required immediately. This deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable to other tours. There will be a final date provided for the remainder of the package payment. After final payment due date, payment is non-refundable and non-transferable.

• PASSENGER FORMS: All travellers on our Multi Day and Interstate/ International Tours are required to complete a Passenger Form. This only needs to be completed once or updated when your details change.

• PICK UP: If you have a group of 6 or more passengers attending a day tour, we can arrange a separate pick up for you. All Travel Club multi-day tours have a Hobart Greater region home pick up, unless otherwise stated.

• POSTAGE: Due to increased cost of postage & delays we will not be posting payment receipts unless requested, postage charges will apply. When phoning through payment we encourage you to provide us with an email address to receive receipts.

• TRAVEL INSURANCE: We strongly recommend you obtain appropriate travel insurance prior to paying your final balance for any of our multi-day tours.

• PRICE CHANGES: Prices may change without notification.

• ITINERARY CHANGES: We reserve the right to alter or omit any part of the itinerary.

• SAFETY: Love Tasmania Tours and Coal River Coaches reserves the right to decline to carry anyone if it is felt the individual cannot cope with the requirements of the tour, or who may require services that we cannot guarantee will be available, or if meals (due to certain dietary requirements) cannot be catered for.

• WAIT LISTS: If a Tour that you want to go on is full, we can pop you on the “Waitlist”. This means if we have a cancellation, we will contact you.
