Itinerary:

Day 1:

Hello Perth! Once you have arrived at The Indian Pacific, enjoy a welcome gathering, in celebration of the start of your journey. You’re about to embark on the world’s longest stretch of straight railway track.

Settle into tour cabin as the Indian Pacific pulls away from Perth, leaving the Indian Ocean behind and cruising towards the pacific. Spend a relaxed evening getting to know your fellow travellers over dinner. Served onboard, the menu features contemporary Australian cuisine with seasonal and regional flavours.

Day 2:

Awake to see the sunrise unfold across Australia’s largest outback town, Kalgoorlie. This morning, we’ll delve into this mining town’s fascinating past and present, with a visit to the region’s gold rush era, now modern day, Super Pit mine. Decide how you want to explore Kalgoorlie with your choice of Off Train Experiences, including morning refreshments.

Re-boarding the train mid-morning for brunch, the remainder of the day is spent on board at your leisure. Sit back and enjoy the hospitality as you take in spectacular views of the seemingly endless expanse of the Nullarbor Plain. You’ll cross borders and time zones, entering South Australia before dinner. Late evening, the train will pull into the almost-ghost-town of Cook for a nightcap and late-night bonfire experience under the Nullabor sky.

Day 3:

Spend the morning travelling through the pastoral land and communities of South Australia as the Indian Pacific travels past the Flinders Rangers, Spencer Gulf and the Adelaide Plains. Breakfast and lunch will both be served on board. Mid-afternoon, the train pulls into Long Plains, where you’ll disembark and transfer into the comfortable coaches to the world renowned wine producing region of the Barossa Valley. You’ll spend the evening at Seppeltsfield Estate, delighting in their signature dining experience in the vintage cellar. This is exclusive only to Indian Pacific guests.

A ‘Firing of the Barrel’ display is part of the evening, as well as a food and wine pairing curated by Executive Chef, Owen Andrews, highlighting regional produce and traditional methods that reflect the story of the Barossa. After dinner, you’ll return to the Indian Pacific, continuing your rail journey throughout the night.

Day 4:

Crossing another border during the night, you’ll wake up in Broken Hill, New South Wales. Enjoy a hearty breakfast, ready for the day’s activities in the Silver City.

Discover what makes Broken Hill special with a visit to the Miner’s Memorial and the Sulphide Street Railway & Historical Museum, offering fascinating insight into the town’s heritage. Alternatively, go underground with a tour of the historic Daydream Mine for a glimpse into the life of early miners.

For art enthusiasts, unleash your creativity at the Pro Hart Gallery with a ‘paint and sip’ activity, crafting your own masterpiece in Pro’s original studio. Food lovers can experience the outback at the Living Desert State Park with Chef Lee Cecchin, discovering native plants, sampling spices and crafting a mini pavlova in a fun ‘cook-off’ at The Old Salt Bush restaurant. For a different perspective, join Shelita Buffet, Queen of the Outback, for a lively tour along the main drag.

Returning to the train for lunch, admire the scenery as the Indian Pacific travels through regional New South Wales. Tonight, dinner is served on board as you make the most of your final night exploring Australia by train.

Day 5:

The Blue Mountains are known for their soaring sandstone ridges wrapped in native flora. This World Heritage listed area marks your final stop before arriving in Sydney. Say goodbye to the Indian Pacific after breakfast, to travel deep into the mountains for your choice of Off Train Experiences. Complete your journey on our charted New South Wales rail service (fully hosted by your Indian Pacific crew) into Sydney Central Station. Alternatively, if you prefer to arrive in Sydney earlier, stay on board the Indian Pacific to travel directly to Sydney Central Station, arriving before lunchtime.
