First, visit the Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery where we take an interesting tour of the plant and equipment used in producing eucalyptus oil and products. We also enjoy a delicious lunch before visiting the nearby Clifford Honey Farm and finally we head to Emu Bay Lavender Farm to enjoy an interesting talk and pick up some goods before arriving and settling into our accommodation for the next 2 nights in Kingscote. Day 3:

Kangaroo Island has an abundance of incredible wildlife and today we have a chance to get up close and personal. Our local guide will join us on the coach today, as we travel to the famous Seal Bay. We will be taken into the heart of the colony where our experienced guide will teach us about the wonderful Australian Sea Lions. There is nowhere else in the world where you can listen to an expert give you their unique insight while walking amongst the colony. At Raptor Domain, we witness the interactive and inspiring Birds of Prey Demonstration before exploring Flinders Chase National Park. The park’s coastal scenery includes Admirals Arch, Remarkable Rocks and an excellent boardwalk where we see a colony of New Zealand Fur Seals below. What a day of truly exceptional wildlife experiences!

Day 4:

This morning we venture to the most eastern most point of the island and visit the Cape Willoughby Lighthouse precinct. Being the first lighthouse to be built in South Australia it has a rich maritime history and spectacular panoramic views across Backstairs Passage from the top of the lighthouse. There are 101 steps to navigate to the top if you wish, but the view from the ground is also stunning with excellent views of the remote island coastline. Our majestic views don’t end here as we head to Penneshaw for an early lunch at the Penneshaw Hotel before we make our way to connect with our afternoon ferry service to back to Cape Jervis. Once back on the mainland, we travel via Victor Harbor and Strathalbyn, then arrive in the Adelaide Hills town of Hahndorf to check into our hotel for the next 2 nights.

Accommodation: The Lodge by Haus Hahndorf

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 5:

Today we head for the Murray River and the town of Murray Bridge, which is just over 1 hours’ drive from Adelaide. On arrival we board the Captain Proud Paddleboat for a 1-hour morning tea cruise on the Murray River. Heading back to Hahndorf we have some free time in the main street to purchase lunch. There are numerous cafes, bakeries, restaurants and pubs, with many small gift stores to look at. World renowned artist, Hans Heysen, settled in Hahndorf in 1908 and built his studio, ‘The Cedars’ in the style of a Bavarian Chalet. This afternoon we will enjoy a guided tour of the house, the studio (which has been kept just the way Hans Heysen left it, including some unfinished sketches) and the extensive gardens. This was his base as he painted extensively on site in the hills around Hahndorf and in the Flinders Ranges. Our final visit for the day is to the Beerenberg Strawberry Farm, fully Australian owned and all products are made at this farm. We will have the opportunity to purchase from their gift range and the large range of delicious preserves. You may not know but Beerenberg products can now be found in 24 countries, on major airlines and in more than 300 hotels!
