Day 2: Launceston
The whole region in and around Launceston is packed with city and country charm, gorgeous old towns, excellent food and wine and beautiful scenery. The city is one of Australia's oldest cities and offers one of the best-preserved early cityscapes in Australia with its elegant Colonial and Victorian architecture and century-old parks. Just a short distance from the city centre, Cataract Gorge is a slice of wilderness right in the heart of town and Launceston's natural attraction. Today you have the opportunity to experience one of Tasmania's premier wineries - Josef Chromy Wines. Join the "Go Behind The Label Tour" to explore the wine making process from grape to glass. You will taste some wines in their unfinished state before heading to the Cellar Door for a 2-course lunch of fine Tasmanian produce with matched wines. In the afternoon, your Coach Captain will show you popular sights of Launceston.
Accommodation: Hotel Grand Chancellor Launceston
Inclusions: Josef Chromy "Go behind the Label" tour
Day 3: East Coast
Spend the day travelling to Tasmania's stunning East Coast. You will travel via St Helens and spend time exploring the East Coast's largest Town. Home also to the slice of coastal heaven that is the Bay of Fires, stretching over 50km from Binalong Bay. St Helens is an old whaling town and is now Tasmania's largest fishing port. Travel further south arriving at Bicheno in the afternoon. The beaches of the Surf Coast, between Bicheno and St Helens, are perfect for surfing, walking, beachcombing and relaxing.
Accommodation: Beachfront Bicheno
Inclusions: National Parks Pass
Day 4: Bicheno Hobart
It is time to say goodbye to the East Coast and return to Hobart, but not before visiting the Freycinet Peninsula, home to Wineglass Bay. The view is certainly worth the steep 1.5-hour return walk to the top of Wineglass Bay Lookout (there are alternative options for anyone with restricted mobility). After lunch we will continue our journey down the Great Eastern Drive, arriving in Hobart in the late afternoon.
Accommodation: Hobart Ibis Styles Hotel
Inclusions: National Parks Pass
Day 5: Tasman Peninsula
Today is all about spectacular coastlines, fascinating geological features and World Heritage listed Port Arthur Historic site. Enjoy a scenic drive to the rugged Tasman Peninsula via Eaglehawk Neck, a thin isthmus once guarded by dogs to prevent convicts escaping. The coastal environment is home to the highest sea cliffs in the southern hemisphere and unique rock formations, such as Tessellated Pavement, the Blow Hole, Tasman Arch or Devil's Kitchen. Visit Port Arthur Historic Site, a special place of vivid history, cultural heritage and compelling convict stories.
Accommodation: Hobart Ibis Styles Hotel
Inclusions: National Parks Pass, Entry to Port Arthur Historic Site
Day 6: Hobart Departure
Today it is time to bid our beautiful island state farewell. Depending on your flight time, you may have time to visit MONA, the Museum of Old & New Art, the Southern Hemisphere's largest privately owned art gallery.
Inclusions: Airport transfer
