Day 2

We enjoy a day packed full of breathtaking gardens as we journey to the main event, Floriade! While here you will have free time to explore the stunning Commonwealth Park. This is Australia’s biggest celebration of spring, occurring annually these displays have a lot of thought and work put into them to create a different arrangement each year. The curated displays of intricately placed bulbs bring a glorious beauty to Commonwealth Park. While here you will have free time to explore the stunning park. We then move along to Tulip Top Garden for lunch and a tour. This picturesque garden has 5 stars on Trip Advisor and for good reason. It is located in a tranquil setting among hills and alongside a small stream, you will find thousands of tulips with each garden bed marked with names of the flowers and stunning trees in full blossom. Cockington Green Gardens is our next stop. Here we find an intriguing and beautiful park containing a miniature village set against luscious flora. Take you time to explore before we return to Mercure in the late afternoon.

We then visit Australian Parliament House to experience democracy in action. Here you will find some of Australia’s finest historical treasures, symbolic architecture and contemporary art on display throughout the building. We move on to lunch (at own cost) and a self-guided tour of the National Museum of Australia where you can immerse yourself in Australian history and culture, by exploring key issues, events and people who have shaped the nation. Take it easy this morning with some free time. Whether you would like to go shopping, visit a gallery or check out a museum, there are plenty of options to explore. Our only planned activity for today is a visit to the National Arboretum in the afternoon. Here you will find a vast collection of themed gardens and monoculture forests. Take the time to learn stories of the trees, the features of the Arboretum and the Ngunnawal people, the Traditional Custodians of the land. Dinner will be back at our accommodation.
