From east to west and back again, the Indian Pacific has been crossing the Nullarbor and traversing the world’s longest stretch of straight railway track for over 50 years. Experience Kalgoorlie, Cook, The Barossa Valley, Broken Hill and the Blue Mountains via one of the most unique ways to travel. Enjoy fine dining, nightcaps by bonfire, and soak up the rich history of the land.

Day 1

Today is a travel day from Hobart to Perth to begin your journey. Pre travel can be organised for you, including airport transfers, accommodation in Perth, and flights.

Day 2

Hello Perth! Enjoy a free morning to spend a few hours however you would like! Once you have arrived at The Indian Pacific, enjoy a welcome gathering, in celebration of the start of your journey. You’re about to embark on the world’s longest stretch of straight railway track. Settle into tour cabin as the Indian Pacific pulls away from Perth, leaving the Indian Ocean behind and cruising towards the pacific. Spend a relaxed evening getting to know your fellow travellers over dinner. Served onboard, the menu features contemporary Australian cuisine with seasonal and regional flavours.

Day 3

Awake to see the sunrise unfold across Australia’s largest outback town, Kalgoorlie. This morning, we’ll delve into this mining town’s fascinating past and present, with a visit to the region’s gold rush era, now modern day, Super Pit mine. Decide how you want to explore Kalgoorlie with your choice of Off Train Experiences, including morning refreshments. Re-boarding the train mid-morning for brunch, the remainder of the day is spent on board at your leisure. Sit back and enjoy the hospitality as you take in spectacular views of the seemingly endless expanse of the Nullarbor Plain. You’ll cross borders and time zones, entering South Australia before dinner. Late evening, the train will pull into the almost-ghost-town of Cook for a nightcap and late-night bonfire experience under the Nullabor sky.

Day 4

Spend the morning travelling through the pastoral land and communities of South Australia as the Indian Pacific travels past the Flinders Rangers, Spencer Gulf and the Adelaide Plains. Breakfast and lunch will both be served on board. Mid-afternoon, the train pulls into Long Plains, where you’ll disembark and transfer into the comfortable coaches to the world renowned wine producing region of the Barossa Valley. You’ll spend the evening at Seppeltsfield Estate, delighting in their signature dining experience in the vintage cellar. This is exclusive only to Indian Pacific guests. A ‘Firing of the Barrel’ display is part of the evening, as well as a food and wine pairing curated by Executive Chef, Owen Andrews, highlighting regional produce and traditional methods that reflect the story of the Barossa. After dinner, you’ll return to the Indian Pacific, continuing your rail journey throughout the night.

Day 5

Crossing another border during the night, you’ll wake up in Broken Hill, New South Wales. Enjoy a hearty breakfast, ready for the day’s activities in the Silver City. Discover what makes Broken Hill special with a visit to the Miner’s Memorial and the Sulphide Street Railway & Historical Museum, offering fascinating insight into the town’s heritage. Alternatively, go underground with a tour of the historic Daydream Mine for a glimpse into the life of early miners. For art enthusiasts, unleash your creativity at the Pro Hart Gallery with a ‘paint and sip’ activity, crafting your own masterpiece in Pro’s original studio. Food lovers can experience the outback at the Living Desert State Park with Chef Lee Cecchin, discovering native plants, sampling spices and crafting a mini pavlova in a fun ‘cook-off’ at The Old Salt Bush restaurant. For a different perspective, join Shelita Buffet, Queen of the Outback, for a lively tour along the main drag. Returning to the train for lunch, admire the scenery as the Indian Pacific travels through regional New South Wales. Tonight, dinner is served on board as you make the most of your final night exploring Australia by train.

Day 6

The Blue Mountains are known for their soaring sandstone ridges wrapped in native flora. This World Heritage listed area marks your final stop before arriving in Sydney. Say goodbye to the Indian Pacific after breakfast, to travel deep into the mountains for your choice of Off Train Experiences. Complete your journey on our charted New South Wales rail service (fully hosted by your Indian Pacific crew) into Sydney Central Station. Alternatively, if you prefer to arrive in Sydney earlier, stay on board the Indian Pacific to travel directly to Sydney Central Station, arriving before lunchtime. Post travel can be organised for you, including transfers to Sydney Airport & your flights.

BOOKING INFORMATION AND PAYMENT METHODS

 

• CASH: We love to see you! Visit our office between 8am - 4pm weekdays and we would be delighted to assist with a booking.

• CARD: Phone or visit our office to make payment using VISA, Mastercard or AMEX, unfortunately our payment system does not accept keycards.

• CHEQUE: Please phone or email us to ensure availability then send cheques to

• BANK TRANSFER: Please phone or email us to ensure availability and we will confirm bank details.

• DAY TOURS: To secure your seat, full payment is required immediately. If you are unable to attend a day tour, we require 48 hours’ notice and we can provide you with a credit to use on another day tour. Day Tour payments are non-refundable.

• MULTI-DAY TOURS: To secure your seat, a deposit is required immediately. This deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable to other tours. There will be a final date provided for the remainder of the package payment. After final payment due date, payment is non-refundable and non-transferable.

• PASSENGER FORMS: All travellers on our Multi Day and Interstate/ International Tours are required to complete a Passenger Form. This only needs to be completed once or updated when your details change.

• PICK UP: If you have a group of 6 or more passengers attending a day tour, we can arrange a separate pick up for you. All Travel Club multi-day tours have a Hobart Greater region home pick up, unless otherwise stated.

• POSTAGE: Due to increased cost of postage & delays we will not be posting payment receipts unless requested, postage charges will apply. When phoning through payment we encourage you to provide us with an email address to receive receipts.

• TRAVEL INSURANCE: We strongly recommend you obtain appropriate travel insurance prior to paying your final balance for any of our multi-day tours.

• PRICE CHANGES: Prices may change without notification.

• ITINERARY CHANGES: We reserve the right to alter or omit any part of the itinerary.

• SAFETY: Love Tasmania Tours and Coal River Coaches reserves the right to decline to carry anyone if it is felt the individual cannot cope with the requirements of the tour, or who may require services that we cannot guarantee will be available, or if meals (due to certain dietary requirements) cannot be catered for.

• WAIT LISTS: If a Tour that you want to go on is full, we can pop you on the “Waitlist”. This means if we have a cancellation, we will contact you.
