Day 1 - 25 May

Today we make our way to Hobart for our flight to Adelaide, where our local coach will be waiting for us to start the tour. From the Adelaide airport we head into the CBD area and check into our accommodation for the night. Our hotel is conveniently located close by to the Torrens Riverbank the Rundle Mall shopping area for anyone wishing to partake in a shopping session before dinner.

Day 2 - 26 May

After breakfast we head for the Adelaide Hills and make a stop at Mount Lofty Summit for some stunning views over the city and the Gulf St Vincent. We continue onto Hahndorf, Australia's oldest surviving German settlement, Harndorf and a superb flashback to the 19th century with its shops, eating houses and attractions housed in authentic surroundings. We take some time to wander the quaint and charming main street and purchase lunch (at own expense) then take the scenic route to Victor Harbor a sought after holiday destination since the late 1800s. We'll have time for some local sightseeing and a trip to Victor Harbour would not be complete without a stroll along the iconic Granite Island causeway. We check into our accommodation with time to relax a little before our evening meal together.

Day 3 - 27 May

This morning we travel through to Cape Jervis and board the Sealink Ferry Service to Kangaroo Island. It takes just 50 minutes to complete the crossing to Penneshaw and whilst aboard we have some time to stretch our legs and have a cuppa. Once the coach is unloaded on the Island, we are ready to begin our touring. We plan to visit a few unique ventures today - run by some unique Kangaroo Island characters! The first one is Clifford's Honey Farm - home to Kangaroo Island's own population of Ligurian bees (the only pure strain in the world) producing 10,000 kilograms of delectable honey each year. Just up the road is the Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery as distilling was once one of Kangaroo Islands major industries.

We are taken on a tour and enjoy lunch here before making our way to our accommodation in Kingscote for the next two nights. Kingscote is the main town on Kangaroo Island. In fact, it was the first free settlement in Australia but was dogged by the lack of water and suitable building timber. After 4 years it was abandoned in favour of Adelaide.

Day 4 - 28 May

There are two major wildlife areas we have planned to visit today. First up we head for Seal Bay for our chance to walk on the beach amongst the colony of Australian Sea Lions who live here all year round. It is an unforgettable experience to be guided by a National Parks Ranger, along the beach, within metres of the bulls, cows and seal pups as they rest on the beach. This will be an unforgettable experience. A trip to KI (as it is affectionately known) would not be complete without taking in the breathtaking scenery of Flinders Chase National Park.

Our afternoon will be spent exploring all that the park has to offer but first we'll find a great spot to enjoy our picnic lunch. This vast wilderness features the iconic Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch. High above sea level, Remarkable Rocks incredible shapes and golden colour provides fantastic photo opportunities while Admirals Arch, weather worn over thousands of years, is also home to a colony of long-nosed fur seals. The spectacular boardwalk will take us right to them. We make a stop in at Cape Du Couedic to view the historic lighthouse and at Rocky River we should see plenty of Cape Barren Geese and maybe a Tamar Wallaby or two. From here we head back to Kingscote for our final night on the island.

Day 5 - 29 May

This morning we check out of our hotel and return to Penneshaw where we join the 10.30am ferry service back to the mainland. From Cape Jervis we drive to the picturesque town of McLaren Vale - the gateway to South Australia's favourite and most accessible wine region. There will be free time to purchase lunch (passenger's own expense) and have a look through the various shops. You might like to indulge your sweet tooth at the FruChocs shop (a South Australian Icon). A stop in at a winery is a must so we call in for a tasting at Shingleback Wine Cellar Door before taking the scenic drive past the very unique D'Arenberg Wines Cube. It's time to commence our journey back to Adelaide where we have a little time to relax before our evening meal together.

Day 6 - 30 May

Today we will be spent exploring Adelaide. We meet our local guide who will spend the morning with us. The city's Central Business District is surrounded by Parklands, or the Green Belt as it's known. For an excellent overview of the city and its Parklands we make a stop at Montefiore Hill. It was from this spot that Colonel Light planned a great city of the future in the sweeping valley below. Easily seen from the Hill is Adelaide Oval, one of the most beautiful Cricket Ovals in the world. Another landmark close by is St Peters Cathedral, which overlooks the city from North Adelaide. Late morning, we arrive at the Adelaide Central Markets which are visited by more than 8.5 million people a year, making it one of the largest undercover markets in the Southern hemisphere.

Established in 1869 and still thriving, this is a true icon for South Australians, so is a must visit during our program and a great location to buy our lunch. The markets are right in the heart of Adelaide's Chinatown restaurant precinct so there will be plenty to choose from. Later this afternoon, we have arranged a tour to the Adelaide Oval. The redeveloped oval offers a unique blend of new and old - from the latest in stadium design to the famous features such as the heritage listed scoreboard, the century-old Moreton Bay Fig trees and the grassed northern mound. Our tour will take us behind the scenes to the inner workings of this iconic ground.

Day 7 - 31 May

Sadly, our tour ends today. We farewell our hosts and South Australia today. We transfer to the Adelaide airport for our direct flights home and arrive back late afternoon having completed a fabulous getaway to South Australia.
