Today is all about the history of the central highlands region of Tasmania.

We arrive at Hamilton for morning tea before we go exploring.

Hamilton boasts a rich history that is evident in its well-preserved heritage buildings and architecture. The town has several Georgian-style sandstone buildings, including the iconic St. Peter's Church, which dates back to 1836. Walking through the town's streets feels like stepping back in time and offers a glimpse into Tasmania's colonial past.

Our next stop is The Wall in the Wilderness, a visual narrative of the history of the Central Highlands region of Tasmania. The Huon pine carving depicts the wilderness and the people who have shaped the area over time, including the indigenous people, early explorers, pioneers, and hydro workers. The intricate carvings tell stories of struggle, hardship, and resilience, offering a glimpse into the past.
