As we wind our way down the coast from Ballina to Sydney delight in the vibrant purple hues of the Grafton Jacaranda Festival and discover the charming seaside towns of Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, and Newcastle, each offering their own unique allure. Day 1

Your journey begins with personalised home pick-ups and transfer to the Hobart Airport. You will be flying via Sydney to Ballina, the northern-most point in your coastal adventure, and home to the Big Prawn. Your accommodation for tonight is Comfort Inn All Seasons Ballina, where comfort meets coastal tranquillity. Indulge in a delightful dinner at the onsite Lic'd Restaurant and Cocktail Lounge.

Day 2

The city of Grafton comes alive each year with the arrival of spring, heralding the start of the Grafton Jacaranda Festival. This iconic event is renowned as one of Australia's longest-running floral festivals, dating back to 1934, and is a highlight on the region's calendar. As you wander through the streets of Grafton, you'll be greeted by a breathtaking sight: a sea of vibrant purple blooms adorning the majestic jacaranda trees that line the avenues. These stunning displays transform the town into a picturesque wonderland, offering a feast for the eyes and a photographer's dream come true.
During the festival, Grafton bursts with activity, offering a diverse array of events and attractions. From street parades and live music performances to art exhibitions and cultural displays, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Be sure to check the festival program for details on specific events happening throughout the day. There will be plenty of local food vendors serving up a variety of food options, so feel free to grab yourself a bite and immerse yourself in the warm hospitality of the locals.

Continuing our journey, we arrive in Coffs Harbour, where you'll check into the luxurious Opal Cove Resort. Indulge in a sumptuous dinner at Horizons Restaurant and Bar.

Day 3

Begin your day with a delightful breakfast before heading out to explore the captivating Coffs Harbour.
Perched high above the lush canopy of the forest, the Forest Sky Pier offers a breathtaking vantage point that promises awe-inspiring views of the surrounding landscape. Upon reaching the observation deck, you'll be greeted by sweeping views that stretch as far as the eye can see, encompassing coastline to hinterland.
You will have a quick stop at the Big Banana, a quirky piece of Coffs Harbour's character, to snap a picture and check out the gift shop.
Step into a world of charm at The Clog Barn, a delightful attraction that captures the essence of Dutch culture in the heart of Coffs Harbour. Browse through the shop, where you'll find an array of handcrafted wooden clogs, showcasing incredible craftsmanship and artistry. Roam through the enchanting model village, where miniature buildings and landmarks recreate scenes from traditional Dutch villages, complete with windmills, canals, and picturesque gardens. Afterward, satisfy your appetite with a visit to Oma's Coffee House, where you can indulge in a selection of delicious treats and beverages inspired by Dutch cuisine.
Step into a world of wonder and enchantment at the Coffs Harbour Butterfly House, where the delicate beauty of nature unfolds before your eyes in a kaleidoscope of colour and motion. Explore the various habitats within the butterfly house, from lush rainforest glades to sun-dappled meadows, each one carefully designed to mimic the butterflies' natural environments. Learn about the life cycle of these captivating creatures, from egg to caterpillar to chrysalis to butterfly, and gain a deeper appreciation for the delicate balance of nature.
As the day draws to a close, we journey to Port Macquarie, our home for the next few nights. Check into the tranquil Comfort Resort Waters Edge and relax as you indulge in delectable cuisine at the onsite On the Edge Restaurant.

Day 4

Rise and shine, today's adventure is all about the spectacular nature of Port Macquarie.
The Port Macquarie Koala Hospital plays a pivotal role in Koala conservation and survival. Visitors to the Koala Hospital can enjoy a unique and immersive experience, with guided tours providing behind-the-scenes access to the hospital's facilities and a rare opportunity to observe koalas up close as they undergo treatment and rehabilitation. The hospital's gift shop offers a range of koala-themed souvenirs, with proceeds supporting the hospital's ongoing conservation efforts.
Embark on a sensory adventure as you join a knowledgeable Indigenous guide for a guided tour of the Sea Acres Rainforest Centre. As you journey through the rainforest, your Indigenous guide will share stories and insights passed down through generations, providing a window into the deep connection between Aboriginal people and the land. Learn about the significance of the rainforest in Indigenous culture, its role as a source of food, medicine, and spiritual nourishment, and the importance of sustainable practices in preserving its biodiversity. Along the way, your guide will introduce you to a diverse array of native plants and fruits that have sustained Aboriginal communities for thousands of years. Each bush tucker ingredient offers a tantalizing taste of the Australian bush, bursting with unique flavours and nutritional benefits.
For lunch and the remainder of the afternoon you will have free time to delight in whichever activities tickle your fancy (i.e. shopping, coastal walk along the Breakwall Rocks, seaplane flight etc.)

Day 5

Today is a bit of a slower morning to take the opportunity to sleep in or have a morning stroll before setting your course for Timbertown, situated in the heart of the lush hinterland of Wauchope. The town has a rich history deeply intertwined with the timber industry, which is preserved and showcase through Timbertown, a living museum. Enjoy a steam train, horse and carriage or peddle boat ride and wander the charming streets of the recreated village where period-dressed interpreters portray the characters and tradespeople of yesteryear.
Indulge your senses with a visit to Longpoint Vineyard and Art Gallery, savouring exquisite wines amidst stunning vineyard vistas. Engage in a wine tasting experience before returning to Port Macquarie for a delightful dinner, reflecting on the day's adventures.

Day 6

Bid farewell to Port Macquarie and embark on a picturesque journey down the coast. You pause for a delightful Discovery Lunch Cruise in Forster. Navigating the pristine waters of Wallis Lake, you will enjoy culinary delights and natural wonders. You may encounter dolphin, turtle, plenty of marine and birdlife along the way. Your captain's informative commentary will leave you spellbound.
Arrive in the vibrant city of Newcastle. You will check into the elegant Terminus Apartment Hotel and indulge in a sumptuous dinner at Customs House Hotel, where innovative cuisine and waterfront views combine to create a truly unforgettable dining experience.

Day 7

Take the morning at your own pace and have breakfast at the place of your choosing.
Discover the rich heritage and maritime history of Newcastle as you visit Fort Scratchley Museum which overlooks the picturesque coastline of Newcastle and the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean beyond. Learn about the living museums rich history from your knowledgeable guide providing fascinating insights into the fort's strategic importance, its role in defending Newcastle during times of war, and the legacy it has left behind as a symbol of Australia's military heritage.
Take a break for a quick lunch before exploring Strzelecki Lookout and Newcastle Memorial Walk.
It is time to make way to Sydney. Upon arrival you will be checked into the conveniently located Holiday Inn Sydney Airport. Conclude your coastal adventure with a memorable dinner at Biggles Bar and Grill, raising a toast to the unforgettable experiences shared along the way.

D

Day 8

It is an early start today, as you bid farewell to NSW's splendour. Carrying with you cherished memories of gorgeous coastal towns and stunning Jacaranda blooms. Arrive in Hobart, where your home drop-offs mark the end of a journey filled with unforgettable experiences and lifelong memories.

• Post in booking request/s with cheque to PO Box 73, Richmond 7025 and we will do the rest, please include your pick-up point and best contact number.

• Phone or visit our office and we can make a booking for you and provide you with a receipt.

• BANK TRANSFER: Please contact us for details if you wish to make payments via bank transfer.

• DAY TOURS: to secure your seat, full payment is required immediately. If you are unable to attend a day tour, we require 48 hours’ notice and we can provide you with a credit to use on another day tour. Cancellation under 48 hours is non-refundable.

• MULTI-DAY TOURS: to secure your seat, a deposit is required immediately. This deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable to other tours. There will be a final date provided for the remainder of the package payment.

• PASSENGER FORMS: All travellers on our Multi Day and Interstate/ International Tours are required to complete a Passenger Form which includes details of dietary, mobility and next of kin. This only needs to be completed once or updated when your details change.

• If we cancel a tour for any reason, we can provide a refund or credit to be used within 18 months.

• PICK UP: If you have a group of 6 or more, we can arrange a separate pick up for you.

• POSTAGE: Due to increased cost of postage & delays we will not be posting payment receipts. We encourage you to visit us at our office if you require a receipt or provide us with an email address.

• TRAVEL INSURANCE: We strongly recommend you obtain appropriate travel insurance at the time of paying your deposit for any of our multi-day tours.

• PRICE CHANGES: Prices may change without notification.

• ITINERARY CHANGES: We reserve the right to alter or omit any part of the itinerary.

• SAFETY: Coal River Coaches reserves the right to decline to carry anyone if it is felt the individual cannot cope with the requirements of the tour, or who may require services that we cannot guarantee will be available, or if meals (due to certain dietary requirements) cannot be catered for.

• SEATING: Coal River Coaches now operates with a Seat Rotation system on all Coach Tours.

• WAIT LISTS: If a Tour that you want to go on is full, we can pop you on the “Waitlist”. This means if we have a cancellation, we will contact you.
